Delivery integration
Pending validationPorter and Tuckly
Request a Porter rider for an order from your online ordering system. What works today, what is pending validation, and the 22 Indian cities Porter lists.
What would sync, and its status
| Capability | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Request a rider for a direct order | Pending validation | Porter's public API covers two-wheelers only. Automated booking from the order screen is being validated; manual booking in the Porter app works today. |
| Live rider tracking in the order screen | Pending validation | Depends on Porter webhook and tracking access, which is arranged with Porter's team rather than through a self-serve portal. |
| Delivery quote before booking | Pending validation | Porter sets the trip fee by distance and vehicle. Showing that quote on the order before you confirm is part of the validation work. |
| Own-rider fallback when no Porter rider is available | Supported | Assign one of your own delivery staff to the order by hand. |
| Porter in the UAE, Turkey or Malaysia | Not supported | Porter operates in those countries, but Tuckly's delivery workflow currently covers India only. |
Setup requirements
- A Porter for Business account. Porter says an Enterprise account takes one business day to activate.
- API access arranged with Porter's team. Porter has no self-serve developer portal; onboarding runs through a callback request or [email protected].
- A restaurant address inside a city Porter serves, and inside its API coverage if you want automated booking rather than manual booking in the app.
- Delivery switched on in your Tuckly ordering site, with delivery areas and charges set.
- A fallback for orders Porter cannot cover: your own riders, or pickup.
Limitations
- Porter's public API is limited to two-wheelers. Larger vehicles are not available through the API yet.
- Porter advertises API integration across 16 cities while its app lists 22, so automated booking may not be possible everywhere a rider can be booked manually.
- Porter sets its own trip fees. Tuckly does not control them and does not mark them up.
- Live tracking inside Tuckly is not available until validation is complete.
- A listed city does not mean every pin code. Check your delivery area against the Porter app before promising delivery on your site.
Who it suits
- Restaurants in Porter cities with no riders on the payroll
- Kitchens with uneven delivery volume that want a rider only when an order arrives
- Restaurants already booking Porter manually that want fewer taps per order
What Porter is
Porter is an on-demand logistics service in India. A business or an individual opens the Porter app, books a two-wheeler, a three-wheeler or a small truck, and a driver from Porter’s network does that one trip. For a restaurant the useful part is the two-wheeler service: a rider who collects a bag from your counter and takes it to a customer’s door, booked for that trip only, with no monthly commitment.
That makes Porter a different kind of company from a food delivery marketplace. Porter is not a place where customers discover your restaurant. It is a way to move an order you have already taken. The order arrives through your own ordering site, and Porter supplies the rider.
How a Porter delivery fits a direct order
Follow one order through. A customer opens your ordering page, picks delivery, enters an address and pays through your payment gateway. The order lands on your order screen. The kitchen accepts it and starts cooking. Now you need someone to carry it.
The manual version, which works today, goes like this. A member of staff opens the Porter app, types in the pickup and drop addresses, books a two-wheeler and watches for the rider to be assigned. When the bag leaves, somebody moves the order in Tuckly to on its way by hand. It works, but the same address gets typed twice and the status is only as current as the last person who remembered to update it.
The version Tuckly is validating removes the retyping. You request a rider from the order itself. The pickup address is yours and the drop address is already on the order. A quote comes back before you confirm, the rider’s details attach to the order, and status updates from Porter move the order along without anyone copying information between two apps.
Until that validation is finished, those steps are labelled pending on this page rather than live. The manual workflow stays available, and the own-rider option is there for orders Porter cannot cover.
Where Porter operates
Porter’s site lists these Indian cities: Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Vadodara, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Chennai, Kolkata, Indore, Ahmedabad, Surat, Nagpur, Lucknow, Pune, Coimbatore, Kochi, Ludhiana, Nashik, Kanpur, Visakhapatnam and Trivandrum.
Porter’s API page describes API integration across 16 cities, which is fewer than the 22 the app serves. Automated booking may therefore not be available in every city where a rider can be booked manually. Porter also operates in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Malaysia; Tuckly’s delivery workflow does not cover those markets.
Coverage inside a city matters as much as the city itself. Being on the list does not mean every pin code is served. Before you promise delivery slots on your site, check your delivery area in the Porter app.
What Porter’s API covers
Porter says its APIs are currently available for two-wheelers and that other vehicles will follow. It describes API integration as providing webhook updates, live tracking and transport authentication. There is no self-serve developer sign-up: access is arranged with Porter’s team through a callback request, and Porter says an Enterprise account can be activated in one business day.
That has a bearing on timelines. An integration that depends on access granted by a partner team is not something we can switch on for every restaurant at once, which is why the status reads pending validation rather than available. We would rather say that plainly than show a logo and let you find out later.
The cost side
Porter sets its own trip fee according to distance and vehicle type. Tuckly takes no commission on the order and adds nothing to the Porter fee. What the customer sees as a delivery charge is up to you: pass the fee through, absorb it above a minimum order value, or set a flat charge that averages out over a week. The figures on the delivery fee calculator are a reasonable starting point.
What still needs a person
Automation does not remove the human parts of delivery. Someone has to set a realistic preparation time so the rider is not waiting at the counter. Someone has to hand over the right bag. And when a delivery fails or a customer cancels, someone has to talk to them. The order screen keeps the customer’s phone number on the order for exactly that reason.
Porter questions
Is the Porter integration live?
Not fully. You can take delivery orders on your site today and book a Porter rider manually in the Porter app, then update the order status by hand. Automated booking, quotes and tracking from inside the order screen are pending technical validation, and this page will change when that changes. The delivery management page describes the full set of fulfilment options.
Does Porter bring me customers like Swiggy or Zomato do?
No. Porter moves an order you have already taken; it is not a marketplace where diners browse restaurants. The customer finds you through your own site, Google Business Profile, social media or a QR code, and Porter supplies the rider. See direct ordering vs delivery apps for how the two models differ.
Who pays Porter's trip fee?
You do, to Porter, at Porter's rates. Whether you pass it to the customer as a delivery charge, absorb it above a minimum order value, or split it is a setting on your ordering site. The delivery fee calculator helps you set a charge that covers the trip.
What happens if no Porter rider accepts the booking?
The order stays on your screen in its current status. You can assign one of your own riders if you have any, or call the customer and offer pickup. Nothing is auto-cancelled. The self-delivery page covers the own-rider option.
Can I use Porter for dine-in or pickup orders?
There is nothing to deliver, so no. Porter only applies to orders with a delivery address. Pickup and QR code ordering for tables run without a rider at all.
My city is not on Porter's list. What are my options?
Use your own delivery staff through the self-delivery workflow, or offer pickup only. The delivery partner integration page explains what a third-party delivery connection involves and why Porter is the only one listed here for now.
